We all create online account everywhere, Operating System requires we have account, same with email, social media, banking, streaming, everything...
And with creating online account, the most important part is to create strong password. This is not an option, with hackers and weak password it's just matter of time when they will hack YOU.
This post is for you - you will learn how to create strong passwords, so the hackers can go to hell!
Understand the Anatomy of a Strong Password
Like strongmen have some common characteristics, strong passwords also have properties that make them strong and resilience:
Length: The longer, the better. Period. Longer passwords exponentially increase the permutations required to crack them. So try to create at minimum a password with 12 characters or more.
Complexity: if you are using just small letters, well... You're not gonna make it. Include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. The greater the variety, the more challenging it becomes for hackers to decipher your password.
Unpredictability: Avoid predictable patterns or easily guessable information such as birthdates, pet names, or common phrases. Opt instead for random combinations that defy logical inference. So if you have a girlfriend Karen, DON'T create password
ilovekaren.
Implement Best Practices for Password Creation
Now that you know that creating password based on your pet's name is not the best option (at least if you don't want to be hacked). Here are some strategies that you can implement:
Consider crafting a passphrase — a sequence of unrelated words interspersed with numbers and symbols. Phrases like KittySunflower#82 are easy to remember and very secure.
Create mnemotics: create complex passwords like my3sons+my2daughters=mylovelyfamily - this password is almost impossible to hack into.
Avoid Dictionary words - don't use plane names, surnames and other dictionary words like password, qwerty and so on.
Next Step: Password Managers
You can store securily your password in one place - this things are called password managers and they are awesome. But this is the topic for another blog post.
